"Original and inventive, addictive and playful." 1. Memory lane of hidden Treasures
Welcome all to our first Re - Decked session. During these sessions we will be presenting you music, artists and releases of which we believe that they deserve to be in the spotlight again. Artists we recently re - discovered, albums we found under a coat of dust and music that has recently found its way again to our sound system.
2. Shot Deep 3. The Light 4. Body 5. You Are 6. That's All 7. ABC of Romance 8. God's lonely Crusade 9. Stay 10. Those were the Days 11. Something Sweet 12. Sweet Papa 13. Keep it Cool 14. Caught up in a C - minor Blues First in line is a songstress I recently discovered while attending a Candy Dulfer show where she took care of the backings and did the title song of her debut album ABC of Romance. Later I would learn that she is the one who replaced Trijntje Oosterhuis as lead singer for Candy's Funky Stuff. Anyway, I have to admit I was quite impressed by Moonbaker's performance that night, I immediately fell in love with the somewhat nasal sound of her voice and I wanted to do something with this great performer ... so what could be better than to present her here on www.jazzandsoul.eu. Thanks to Daan at music - dept, we received Moon's album and from that point our quest through Moonbaker's music could start. Today, after hearing ABC of Romance for about the tenth time, I have to state clearly that again, I'm glad that I discovered this 'funky' Dutch soul diva and that her full album, got me even more impressed. ABC of Romance is what I would like to call a perfect balanced album. A variation of several styles ranging from old school soul to pop, from classy jazz and downtempo soul to fat and greasy funk ... Moonbaker does it all. The regardful listener will notice that Moon perfectly absorbed all the best of performers she shared stages with and reflected this on her own creations ... keeping them original and inventive, addictive and playful. I don't to dissect each and every song in here, as Re - Decked serves as an impression, a thought or feeling I want to share. Let me say though that the album starts with Everybody make way ... here's a good thing coming at you' and ends with Caught up in a C - minor Blues ... the perfect summary for a feeling. I do want to leave you though with the song that got me acquainted with an artist that I'll always embrace, in whatever she does ... ABC of Romance. If you have a chance to pick up this album, I can assure ... you won't regret it. An impression by Teach Moonbaker Linxxx > Moonbaker Official Website > Moonbaker on Myspace |
