Love, life & Relationships is the debut album by versatile singer Rachel Brown. A new, golden voice on the soul firmament that reminds a bit of Regina Bell and sometimes even Sarah Vaughn. As a lot of modern soul pearls, Mrs. Brown started her singing carrer in a church choir, and now, after a lot of performing experience in major venues and internationally with Ann Nesby, Cameo, ... she came home to make her feelings and inspiration immortal. Love, life & Relationships has become, literally, a beautiful album on which Rachel messages life stories, the joys and pains of love and the experiences we encounter in relationships. The album itself could be divided in two parts. One half smooth and silky soulish with tracks as Rise Again, Learn to love Me, My child, Promise of Love (a superb duet with Reno Walkfer) and The Emotions cover Don't ask my Neighbor, on which she, not only does justice to the original, but also manages to sculpt the song as her own. The other half of the album contains a bit more R&B'ish cuts, with an absolute favourite Spend the Night. Musicaly, Love, life & Relationships is puzzled together in a professional and good manner, the emphasis though is Rachel's vocal capabilities. And according to me, this voice can easily compete with the most exulted voices. If you're in for a night of great music with a perfect mix of classic downtempo soul and mid tempo R&B ... Mrs. Rachel Brown certainly is yar thang. Highly recommended for sure.
