Trombonist/keyboard player/percussionist/composer Chad "Sir Wick" Hughes is the founder of Sir Wick and the Odyssey. Sir Wick was formed in 1999 when Hughes teamed up with lyricists Marcus Collins and Steven Snead. He was thrilled to collaborate with these two hot writers who were also former high school classmates. With his high school nickname as his nomenclature, Sir Wick now had the music and the lyrics. All he needed was the singer. Now, together with a ten piece band and dynamic duo Sedalia Marie and Sarah D'Angelo on vocals, Sir Wick is ready to take center stage. And we must say, Sir Wick's 'An Interpretation of a Universal Language' has become an outstanding album filled with soulful, funky tracks in a flawless production, musically unequalled and with heavenly singing from Sedalia Maria and Sarah D'Angelo. The first cut immediately sets the tone. Seal my Heart is a tune built on a funky drum rhythm and baseline, with the georgeous voice of Sedalia on top and a great horn break in the centre. Uncomplicated brings a downtempo song in the likes of Incognito. Great vocals, catchy chorus, soulfully accompanied by Sir Wick and the band. 'This is the Day' forms a jazzy introduction for Moonlight Serenade, a magnificent downtempo latin tune with sumptuous guitar and piano improvisation. I can't Wait, Thank you Lord, What am I to Say, ... piece by piece great, classy tunes. If i have to choose a top track on the album, You are my Everything would be my top notch. While the original track already has a 'high dancety' percentage, Sir Wick takes it to a higher level with the Fried chicken Remix, to become an instant smash dancefloor killer with a lot of dripping soul around the edges.
With an album as 'An Interpretation of a Universal Language' in his pocket, a 10 piece live band to bring it on and top vocalists aside, Sir Wick is ready to conquer the world and deserves to perform on the biggest stages. Definitely an album to spend your money on ... you surely won't regret it.
