Soul UnsignedVolume 2© 2009 Soul Unsigned Records
"Soul Unsigned is about to become an institute in soul music." 1. Nash Reed - Natural
Regular visitors of the JazzandSoul website, know that we've always been fans of Phil Driver's Soul Unsigned project. And what started last year with the release of 2 Soul unsigned EP's, has become a success in less than a year. We've just finished with the constant play of Soul Unsigned Volume 1, when the second full album drops in.2. G.L.O. - Don't take me for Granted 3. Unkle Funkle - Gonna give it to You 4. Judderbass ft. Joanna Brown - Everybody Knows 5. Maxi - Stepping Out 6. Sean Miranda - Dig It 7. J - Funk - Breakthru 8. Destruments - Take a closer Look 9. Muthafunk - True Love 10. Venueconnection - Madrid Boogie 11. Kevin East - When are you Gonna 12. Varius Funkus - Get on the Beat 13. Calumet - Keep the funk Alive 14. Frank Felix & The F.U. Express - Club 44 Nothing has been changed to the concept as Phil went on another treasure hunt again, to discover the most promising and refreshing independent soul artists on the planet. Result ... just over one hour of the best soulful grooves around. Just insert the disk in your sound system and Nash Reed introduces you to what Soul Unsigned is all about in this smooth and groovy soulshaker. I have to admit that Phil has surpassed himself again, because Volume 2, truly houses some brilliant uncut diamonds. Fresh, midtempo soul grooves by G.L.O., Unkle Funkle, Maxi and Calumet; greasy funk from Varius Funkus; sexy and inimate sounds by Sean Miranda, J - funk and Destruments and last but not least, steamy floorfillers from Venueconnection and Kevin East. I've always thought of Soul Unsigned as the ideal bridge for new, young fans to discover contemporary soul music ... 'clubable' tunes next to heartwarming soul cuts, forming a product, accessible for each and everyone's taste ... and at this pace, it won't take long before Soul Unsigned will be considered an institute by experienced fans and newbies as well. Nothing less than highly recommended.
