Talking LoudCome a little bit Closer© 2007 Talking Loud
"a 'Lowlands' gem with great, promising work." 1. Come a little bit Closer (intro) Holland has always been a country which is pretty progressive
in it's musical taste and perception.
While soul and jazz related music seem difficult genres to take
to the masses in most European countries, Holland houses
some top bands and hosts some of the best festivals and
venues.
Out of the 'Lowlands' comes a new band, Talking Loud,
presenting their first EP release, Come a little bit Closer. And I
have to admit, Talking Loud, again is one of those gems
coming out with some great, promising work.
A combination of soul and funky rhythms, well produced, good
songwriting and a mature sounding lead vocalist.
More important, Come a little bit Closer carries a steady vibe
which makes you want more after the EP ends.
What more could I ask For is a slowtempo soul jam, quite
addicitve and built around simple but very intelligent guitar
chords while Bring it On booms an uptempo funk track through
the speakers. A head - knodding cut with a heavy beat, cool
sampling work and a descend chorus shouter.
Standout track however, without no doubt is the midtempo
soul shaker Very Necessary. A dreamy composition with a
great rhythm section, a theme that will be in your mind for days
to come and great vocal lines with beautiful harmony backings.
With Very Necessary, Talking Loud proves that they have a lot
of potential for the future.
If the band manages to reach this kind of standard in their
tracks, I'm sure we'll be hearing a lot more of these guys.
Make sure to check them out on their pages and support
bands like these that choose to create a musical genre they
adore instead of selling their souls to simplicity.
A great EP !
